Dr. Andrew Newington BVSc MACVS
After graduating from Massey University Andrew spent 3 years working in a mixed animal practise in the Waikato before heading of to the UK for 4 1/2 years. While there he worked in a range of Veterinary Practises from the James Herriot style country practise to a very busy small animal practise in London. In 1996 he moved to Unitec and began developing Unitec Veterinary Hospital into the clinic it is today. In 1999 he sat and passed post graduate exams in small animal surgery to become a member of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists. Surgery continues to be an interest and the clinic is well equipped to perform most types of surgical procedures. When not at work he is usually on his farmlet in Ardmore or out on the road training for his next triathlon.
Dr. Angela Young BVSc
Angela joined the team in July 2005. She graduated from Massey University in 2001. Originally from Auckland she returned to her hometown and worked at The Cat Practise for two years before joining the team at Unitec. She has a keen interest in internal medicine and intends to sit further exams to become a member of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists in this discipline. Her pastimes include painting, hiking & baking.
Dr. Kylie O'Loughlin BVSc MRCVS
Kylie joined the team in June 2009 after having worked in a number of practices in the United Kingdom including the Royal Veterinary College in London. She is a former NZ representative in gymnastics and aerobics. Her particular interest is in small animal medicine and she is currently enrolled in a Master of Veterinary Science at Massey University in this area.
Angela Gussey DVN
Angela is originally from Mt Albert & completed her Diploma in Veterinary Nursing in 2002. She worked with large animals for the first year and has been at Unitec since September 2003. Angela is passionate about her career as a veterinary nurse and is a great asset to the clinic. She lives at home with her husband 2 cats, 3 dogs. In 2009 Angela was awarded the Meriel Veterinary Nurse of the year award. This is an annual award for the best vet nurse in NZ
Serena Dickinson DVN
Serena joined us from Veterinary Specialist Group after completing her diploma in veterinary nursing at Unitec.
Carrie Hawkins DVN
Carrie started full time for Unitec Veterinary Hospital in Novemeber 2008, but had been working part time for us for a year before that. Originally from up north she is settling into city life with her collection of pets.
Teressa Cooper DVN
Teressa joined the team in July 2009. After working as a vet nurse in practices in South, East and West Auckland, she has spent the last year working for Hills Pet Nutrition However the call of vet nursing was too strong and she has returned to a more hands on role at our clinic.
